BitTorrent is now my standard for downloading stuff

Postby mikem » Wed Jul 16, 2008 5:07 pm

I recently downloaded BitTorrent and now whenever I press to download something from a site (such as download.com), BitTorrent opens and almost crashes my computer. And this isn't only when I download torrents...

Any suggestions on how to fix this except by uninstalling BitTorrent?

Open task manager and monitor the performance. I assume amost crashing means there is a short system lockup?

Not used BitTorrent in a while, but i know Azureus kinda freezes/slows down when you start it if you have a lot of downloaded objects left on the lists - hope that makes sense - maybe a similar problem

are you running 64bit by chance. if so, you might want to try turning down the global and per torrent connections. i had that problem for a while and that solved my crashing problem. you might want to try it anyway. eventually the problem just stopped. i was using utorrent.
