BitTorrent speed

Postby bit_demon » Sat Jun 07, 2008 12:39 pm

I'm using BitTorrent 6.0 but the download runs only at around 3-9 Kbps (24-72 kbps) while my Internet connection runs at 35.6 Kbps (290 kbps). What should I do, I haven't done any configuration or changed any preferences.

Try a different client (uTorrent and Azureus are the 2 most popular), and remember that the speed of BT is entirely dependent on the uploaders and your bandwidth. If the torrent only has a few other people at that time and none of them have a high upload speed then your going to find it slow.
If you have a firewall or router make sure they have the right ports open. uTorrent has a port test you can check with.
