Did you write the seedbox article LANJackal?

Sent: Tue 28-Aug-07 13:54

http://slyck.com/story1577_Need_Upload_ ... _a_Seedbox

Slyck article on power bt seeders. They gave a list of dedicated hosts at the bottom that might be useful for new IPs.

R
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
R,

We use 2 of the 8 providers listed there already. The basic problem we have with dedicated servers is we're using all the ones we're currently paying for, so if you want us to get more, we'll have to increase the dedicated server budget.

Dedicated servers currently cost us ~10% of our total bandwidth cost. I've tried asking a couple of our bigger providers to change us from credit card billing to normal invoicing, but I've been met with resistance.

Holy fucking shit.

So they're using seedboxes for fake torrents too... amazing. I'd always wondered how the hell they'd managed to get so many computers. Thought they had server farms somewhere. Now to find they'd simply outsourced the job.

IRONIC: 2 dedicated servers on the same rack - one seeding a good torrent, the other trying to interdict it. HAHAHA

Wow enigmax, keep the good finds coming, please :). Thanks so far.

IceCube helping them ;)

Hi guys,

I got these 2 .met files today (links from this article on slyck: http://www.slyck.com/story1484.html)... I guess you’ve seen them already, but I was wondering if anyone could let me know if we have any presence on these lists and if we do, how strong it is.

Many thanks,

Neil

Which is better, this or the AOL search leak? i dont know. Theres some pretty funny search results on the AOL leak, but this is an anti-P2P company and it only takes 1 bad email to land the whole company in shit.
Anybody created a searchable database of it yet like with AOL? So we can search for interesting quotes like "just make the numbers up!".

Doesn't sound like they do that much actual work.
If those mails are anything to go by they must spend more time reading through threads at Slyck than we do!

Maybe politely keep an eye out for posts with names and personal info... at least until this spreads more.

I got all excited and shit and actually posted stuff that could land a person (me, you) in hot water at this stage. Better safe than sorry today.

Some inflamatory shit in those emails, all the way from Microsoft to Google.

KingGeorge:
but for now I'm curious what these guys have to say about utorrent

Well... Not read Every email But...
They do seem to like utorrent.... A Bit too much (then again I don't use it)
And for LAN & enigmax:

Dan:

There is a new version of utorrent out. Can you see if interdiction still works?

Yep, we checked yesterday and interdiction still works on the latest version.

As Can be seen from the date.. utorrent works fine... And they Push UTorrent....

Subject: RE: utorrent

After more in-depth analysis…we’ve determined that the new version DOES affect our interdiction in a negative way. They’ve added a new “bt.ban_ratio” field that takes into consideration how many good pieces a client has uploaded. On the older version, they would just kick any peer that uploaded bad data 5+ times.

This post gives some more explanation about the bad ratio field: http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php ... 90#p249190

We still see a lot of hash_check fails…but now the only peers getting banned are ours. This also affects MediaSentry’s interdicted torrents. They are no longer effective on the newest version either.

EMI is very happy with our overall protection. A few comments to be aware of:

for BitTorrent they are using Azureus. Octavio is starting to steer them toward uTorrent, but they're currently testing with Azureus exclusively. So decoys are imperative and we don't need to bother with interdiction for now. GREAT JOB Bittorrent!!!
for Ares they are concerned about how are DHT results return with DHT usernames (see attached MD Korn Trial March 07 - Ares Usernames.JPG). Ty, is there anything we can do about this, or is this the nature of hitting hard on DHT?
for Gnutella they were NEVER able to get any real content. Ivan's protection was solid!

No you didn't  hahaha I'm very sure of that lol.

GrymRpr wrote:Octavio is starting to steer them toward uTorrent, but they're currently testing with Azureus exclusively.
I think what he meant by that statement is that EMI was testing their protection methods using Az only, but MD was trying to get them to include uT in the testing also... NOT that MD was preferring that people use uT so that they could be caught.

Good find, though... keep 'em coming :)

Oh, hell yeah... I gotta post this...

Into the bed with the Bang Bros! LOL!

O**** and R****,

The Bang Bros guys have a lot of bandwidth because they have to serve up samples. Do you think we could talk to them about getting access to their IPs? My theory: there's no way a p2p network/peer guardian would ban BangBros IPs. If they spend $650k/month on bandwidth they have to have a shit ton of IPs.

And I think this is pretty tame as well...

These are some of the domains that we have with GoDaddy. All the porn sounding domains are associated with Dylan's servers. ;) These are all registered by proxy. I just thought you'd be amused seeing this list, in case you haven't seen it in a while.

Looks like they're gunna have to update their whole operation, because you can bet all the IPs that they own are going to be blacklisted by the P2P community. I sure would hate to be the guy trying to convince companies to continue paying mediadefender for their "service"....
