classical music torrents

Postby caldis » Fri Mar 30, 2007 5:00 am

Hey

I am looking for some sites that are dedicated to classical music torrents. I tried the search function but could come up with any satisfactory results nor did google give me anything to go on.

I know torrentspy and the like do contain some, too but I would prefer to get them from a either a private or dedicated site which has regular updates and where one can rely on the quality.

Thanks

Thanks but since it is almost impossible to get a oink invite (even when trading against other very good sites) I guess I have to look at some other place.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Sorry for bumping this but I am still looking for a place where one might even dare to request some classical music.
Anyone heard of a new place for classical music?

Thanks

I've just checked an we don't think there's a dedicated classical music tracker so you'll have to take your chances with public sites and Google.

Or you could try musopen for lots of free, public domain classical downloads, or this piano download site.

usenet/newsgroups
or
ed2k/emule
or
soulseek
or
regular checks at mininova and the pirate bay never hurt.

Thanks. I've checked with google.
The main reason I was asking is that is was hoping to find a vivid community (like this one) where I could ask for stuff. Most interesting torrents are dead or don't even exist. Well I guess I have to grab what I can get. :)

Sadly grabbing music off of usenet is a real pain since the uploaders never rar or zip files naming them unanimously and thous enable a correct indexing. One has to search for the nzbs at thousands of different places. This contradicts the neverending spawning of full index sites like binsearch and alike.

Thanks and let the searching continue.

P.S.

Hi there Caldis,

i too am a fan of classical music, (i have a degree in musicology), but am frustrated at the lack of quality stuff on the net; "classical" brings up the Beatles and Led Zeppelin more often than it brings up Mozart and Beethoven. I have plenty of music I could share with you, I'm based in London, where are you ? Better than torrents I would suggest maybe using soulseek and just browsing the collections of people in the Classical Music room. If you play your cards right, most people will be more than happy to give you a look at their collection, and some have incredible variety. I am setting up broadband at my apartment in the next week or two, and will be using soulseek as my P2P, perhaps I will see you on there, take anything from me you like.

Cheers,

Nick
