The "I got unfairly treated at a tracker" thread

Postby blargh » Sun Jul 02, 2006 12:09 pm

This thread aims to be a condensed list of people telling everyone about what issues they've had with trackers. Please note that if you broke the rules, you shouldn't post it as abuse here, because you broke the rules, regardless of their idiocy or not.

Suggested format of reports:

Name of tracker
Unfair issue
name of mod(s) that executed the order

Example:

Name: BadAssEvilTracker
Unfair Issue: I got banned without breaking the rules
Mod responsible: EvilSuperAdminNo1

So, if enough people give off reports here, I'll start to compile a list of the number of complaints recieved from each tracker, making it rather easy later on to spot which tracker is treating it's users unfairly.

Since the other thread got closed on account of the admins feeling that one thread is enough, comments will have to be put in this thread aswell. So please, mind your posts, it is all I ask.

Because recently, I've been noticing at least two threads popping up of people claiming to be unfairly treated by the administrators of different trackers.
If the private trackers are fair, it'll be one empty thread, hopefully it'll stay this empty aswell.

As for the positive trackers, why not start your own thread about that?

What next? The "The kid from school which offended me thread" thread? Hell, why stop there, let's open a thread for all of the emo's amongst the slyckers and let them write poetry about slithing their wrists and swallowing too much prozac :).

I really got to question the motives behind these kinda threads. Are they created to help set a standard set of rules that all trackers could follow. A sort of Geneva Convention for trackers.

...I don't think so.

They're here to take a cheap shot at the tracker admins. Posting on Slyck means lots of torrent users will see it.

I don't like seeing Slyck getting used like this.

Go find one of those free forum sites and start "TrackerHorrorStories.com". It'd condense all the complaints into a space where only people concerned with this kinda thing would see the tracker names, so the bad publicity wouldn't stretch beyond its natural audience. And if by some long shot a tracker does care about complaints, they could go there to learn how to run their site.

I agree. Besides you could never know if the stories are actually true. People who have been banned will always feel treated unfairly, whether it's true or not. Surely you don't expect anyone to actually admit that they broke the rules? Like if someone was banned for cheating there's a good chance that they come here to say that they were banned for nothing at all...

ok...so this one time, i was a member of this private tracker "'moo.me.uk" and i donated 20 dollars.

but then the weekend arrived and i didn't have enough money for beer, so i went into the forum and asked if they could kindly return it.

i promised i would get it back to them when i could, but they said no.

i asked them how i was supposed to buy my beer and they said "not our problem".

i told them i would take half... you know, compromise with them??

nope, they said again.

i explained to them how elitist that was...them getting drunk on my beer money and not even kicking a little back!

I THOUGHT WE WERE A COMMUNITY!!

needlesss to say, i told them exactly where to stick that 20 dollar bill---you would do the exact same thing, wouldn't you???

and then they banned my ass!

and they didn't even have the common courtesy to tell me why!

you believe that sh*t?

Wow, talk about hostility here... geeze, it's not like I proposed that we DDos the private trackers or anything!

What I suggested was a method for finding out which private trackers treat their members like utter shit, and which trackers doesn't.

TDO: the reason I opened this thread was the same
as when any slyck news admin writes a story, to get information out to the people everywhere.
Had I wanted to whine about it and do nothing, I would have just added another comment to either of the two threads that exists in the forum.

Allied: my intent is to expose those private trackers were admins just ban people just because they abuse power, not to bash the innocent trackers who merely enforce their rules. (no matter how idiotic they may seem)

Kahplah does raise an interesting question, there's no way for me or anyone to know if a person posting is lying or not, but as the thread is open for comments, the admins of the trackers themselves could go in and refute it.. that is.. if they care.

But, it seems like everyone feels that I'm out to hurt honest tracker owners in some way, this isn't the case, all I'm trying to do is to expose those communities where people get treated unfairly.

I'm happy for you all, you lead f@cked up lifes that get f@cked over by others, and your able to move on. Congratulations for not whining like a biatch.

Glad your not complaining about real issues, high taxes, high property tax, lower wages, high crime, discrimination, war on terror, children damaging your property or anything of more importance. You cant or wont get treated badly if you just DOWNLOAD torrents and quit joining IRC and forums where people will often times pissed you off. Just like me posting here, next you have a thread on private torrent sites saying, "Complain here if you got mistreated by the people of slyck.com"

Why do you know we don't complain about real issues?
Have you ever heard about ppl are free to tell opinions without being punished?
Some of ours just told an opinion and we're guilty for life.
Where I live we call ppl who act like this just "fascists", and we're quite fed up with dictatorships here.
It makes no difference if this happens in our cities or in the city of the Internet.

Shawn, you should uderstand that just cause something had not happened with you, it doesn't mean it hadn't happened with others.

Btw, my english is quite poor... what does f@cked mean?

Why in God's mighty trouser pockets would you complain about ANY of these things on a filesharing forum?

I, personally have never been shafted sideways by private trackers, but I've seen it happen to plenty of other folks for nothing more than asking a question, or getting pissed of when some Lord of P2P admin gets all pissy and goes all perma-ban because they can. If someone has a legitimite complaint, or just wants to blow some steam, why not? This is a thread for that. There are other threads for people who want to get out their ratio's and compare sizes.

Disclaimer: I pretty much don't like Private Trackers.

Agree. That's why I like Soulseek. It's fair. If you don't share any stuff, you don get any stuff.
There we, the users, made the rule.
No mods, no admins.
Only users ban other users, only users add other users to their friend's lists.
It's so simple as: You get the stuff from my folder, I get the stuff from yours.

Who needs OINK, all the stuff at lossy formats they have is on slsk, too. Can't explain why ppl have not found out yet.

Btw, OINK, get back the torrents which I created and which still stay there!

so you own the copyrights on the music u u/l on oink i am sure they will stop sharin your music if you contact them as copyright owner

and as oink are not needed i am sure no one will use them

funny how a lot of ppl still use oink i guess the evil admins must control the minds of their users

Why shouldn't I be able to complain if I got treated unfairly by the admins. on a tracker....If I have a problem with someone ouside the internet world I can treat them with ignore or take relevant action until I get satisfaction....Just because someone may complain they were treated unfairly and didn't break any rules but they really did shouldn't be an issue...Don't most people who are guilty of something say they're innocent....so let's not have courts anymore....If I make a complaint in the outside internet world it has to be investigated...if it turns out that I was just being malicious I face the consequences....a lot of these private trackers are run by people with no respect for other people's feelings...they conduct their business behind anonymous nicknames...if they don't like you for a reason they ban you...and then they don't tell you what they ban you for...I had a recent incident where I got banned for no reason other than...as was quoted back to me....." for the heck of it "....isn't there some sort of standard that we on the internet need to observe....shouldn't it be the same standard that non-internet world people observe....just my 2 cents worth....

I dislike private trackers largely for the reason that most are full of elitist dicks who frown on anybody not releasing 0day content using a 100Mbit line. I got banned from one (cant even remember the name. File..something something.., one of the bigger trackers out there) for questioning an admin in the forum for banning someone with a 0.8 ratio. Cant say i was too upset.
Theres use for some specialised trackers (oink was useful to many and i used UKnova (which is the one private tracker i liked) to get lots of UK TV that is impossible to find elsewhere), but many are just not worth it IMO.

I'd be lost without my private trackers.

I've no intention of paying extra money for per month for UseNet on top of my extortionate ISP bill. The private sites I'm a member of ensure that my downloads are top-notch quality, rather than the random hit-or-miss bullshit you get on public trackers.

For free.

If you're not willing to abide by the rules of a private tracker, then it's simple. Don't join in the first place.

Exactly. I often think that multi is either: 1. my father or 2. a long lost sibling.
