Does anyone know what's going on with merc-tech.org? They had a news item up for a while that they were moving and more info would come later then they just disappeared and I haven't been able to connect for days.

Edit 4/4: Homepage now loads to what appears to be a default installation of the webserver. Maybe they are coming back.
Edit 4/5: Back up.

This was posted on another forum site:

Well, there have been two problems..

The first was a late payment of the server bill, but that was paid quickly and the site was back online yesterday.

Currently, there is some kind of technical issue. We do not know exactly what it is yet, but we aretrying to sort it out as soon as possible.

for the latest info, come to our irc @ irc://irc.station51.net/mvgroup

Here's the story (explanation by Merrin):

Anti piracy blundering again and host panicking. - what's new eh?

Go Merrin! MVGroup rocks! :headbang:

Mininova has been down for almost a day now, interesting read on TF re the effect on other sites

Mininova Downtime Puts BitTorrent Sites Under Pressure
Written by Ernesto on April 29, 2008
The popular BitTorrent site mininova has been down for a few hours due to hardware issues. It is expected that the downtime will continue for several hours, which puts other BitTorrent sites under pressure.

Mininova’s Erik told TorrentFreak that there are problems with the network card of the loadbalancer, one of the parts they don’t have a backup for.

The mininova team is working hard to get the site up and running again. The good news is that no data will be lost, the bad news is that it may take a while - possibly 12 hours - because it is a holiday in The Netherlands.

Mininova’s forums are not connected to the loadbalancer, and are still up and running. The same is true for the seeds of their featured content section. Mininova currently has well over 3 million unique visitors per day, and more than 15 million pageviews, which makes them the BitTorrent site with the most traffic.

Consequently, the downtime at Mininova has resulted in quite a few extra visitors for several other BitTorrent sites. Flippy, the admin of Torrentz.com told TorrentFreak that he’s seeing a 50% traffic increase, which works out at tens of thousands of visitors an hour. As a result, Flippy has had a tough time keeping his site running smoothly, and other BitTorrent site admins are reporting similar traffic boosts.

For now Torrentz is doing fine, except for a few server connection issues every now and then. It’s a pretty scary thought that server issues at mininova can almost bring down the fourth largest BitTorrent site. A whole ring of BitTorrent sites could potentially collapse like a house of cards.

TBKresources dead??

Postby rosemary » Sat Jun 28, 2008 6:33 am

Hi guys

Can anyone confirm or deny TBKresources is dead? It's been two days now, it has never been offline that long.

Would be a pitty, been there a member for year and a half.

Anyone knows something alike?

Hi again,

Not dead, but after being offline for 3 days, I now get the message I am blocked!

Please if someone from TBKresources reads this message please look into this, I have no news in my email but PMs do not reach my email for some reason anyway (and not in spam/trash). I know there is irc, i don't use that, downloaded it but it seems difficult (what server ?...)

I was edie, I hope someone is willing to help, believe me I am just not very good with all this stuff so whatever I did wrong is just stupidity for which I apologize 1000 times.

i wish you luck, rosemary - but if they are anything like the typical private tracker, it's over. most couldn't care less what your explanation is, or how remorseful you are. they ban you, end of story. if you try to explain what happened, it seems like the vast majority of sites take a "tell someone who cares" attitude :(

Thanks Mr Fred,

I don't know if they don't care, but they are maybe a bit over-controlling ... it is like the roman empire, when they started to control every penny and move of their people, their empire went down  ,well I am doomed to fuck up as I don't even know what their problems are except to give more than you take and help out others that are stuck which I DID.

Kind of silly to beg

So, I'll just see how far I'll get with my new account :tinfoilhat: just a pitty ... and I am grateful for the sometimes rare and nice torrents I've enjoyed.

*sure it is the frequent updating of the tracker... suspicious! I've read once*
