Bandwidth Display

A quick question concerning the multi-coloured display of bandwidth.

When I click on the bandwidth button it shows an incoming and outgoing bandwith display, but when I look at my transfers window I notice the bandwidth display does not represent the incoming and outgoing transfers. Sometimes there are no uploads, but the bandwith display indicates uploads. If this is the case, what does the multicoloured bandwidth display represent?

thanks, Bob

If you run a 'primary' type connection (as configured in the Networks window) then your client (WinMX) becomes an active 'superpeer' type connection for the network, which runs the task of processing network search queries (people searching for files) on behalf of other users, alongside various other tasks. That's what the majority of the bandwidth usage being shown, when no actual file transfers are active, will mostly be... the processing of these search queries.
