I could post pics of me connecting up to like 18 sources at a time downloading most any popular song on winmx( in fact I did on ZP before most of the winmx section got "cleaned up" and I did cut out the titles). If you work winmx right, you can rock it like a video game. Very fast!

If Ares is the arse, then WinMX is what you use to wipe it.

Winmx

Winmx is better although it has a much steeper learning curve than Ares.

I agree. Ares is for the mind numbing, point and click generation. If something requires knowlege it doesn't work right.

Not from software, only from porn site popups. If you do have any problems with spyware there's a guide for removing it in the guides section to the left.

Opt-out, I might add. Or you could use Filecroc.

True. I can't stand the GUI. It's ugly, and gives me Kazaa flashbacks. Maybe if it was skinable?

I think the GUI is ok. Not great, but not bad, at least to me.
Anyhow, got both on my computer and prefer Ares.

I don't understand why people comlain about Ares' GUI. It's simple, nice, and easy. Some of you are saying you don't like Ares because it's too easy!? What? Would you rather have something that performs well and is very easy to use (Ares) or something that performs poorly in comparison and is harder to use (WinMX)?

What advantage does WinMx's gui give it?
People are saying that its more complicated, but how does that make it better?

I was completely satified with Ares until today...I just installed Panda Titanium 2005 and it has a spyware detect feature on it. I'm sure you can guess what happened...Panda trashed Ares...I mean really did away with it as I was not even able to recover it wit O&O UnErase. Now, I didn't install NavHelper, but the Panda Database must just include Ares as a spyware threat and deletes it without even asking like it does for some others. I don't have any other p2p's installed on my system (besides WinMX, which never finds what I'm looking for), but I'm sure some others will catch hell from this new Titanium. Just thought I'd let yall know, so if you got it, you might wanna move your shared folder, cuz it destroys that too.

It's simple just uncheck the Search toolbar and NavHelper on install, and you'll have a totally clean Ares, or you could use Ares Lite.

Check the editors notes on Download.com, both version of Ares come with Adware.
Editor's note: This download includes adware. Adware may record your surfing habits, deliver advertising, collect private information, or modify your system settings. Pay close attention to the end user license agreement and installation options. For more information on adware and spyware, please visit our Spyware Center.

When I installed Ares, I unchecked all the extra stuff. I run Ad-Aware and Spybot regularly and they never find anything.

I would have though "Ares Lite" would have no bundles, but atleast with Ares and Ares Lite you can uncheck the bundles, and basicly have a clean client. WinMX is ugly, Slow, Lots of results that dont ever download, because you're in a queue most of the time, lets hope WinMX 4.0 is a big mprovement!
