Hey folks!

I just stumbled upon your site looking for WinMX help.

I had been running an older version of WinMX with no problem. Then all of a sudden about 3 weeks ago, it quit working. I downloaded 3.53 hoping that would help. Still nothing.

I type in an artist or song (very common ones) and it says it's searching but nothing happens. Any idea on what may be going on? I'm on Insight cable as a provider. Any and all help is appreciated.

Go to WinMX's program folder and delete the file settings.dat. That should fix it. (Note, your nickname and settings will be lost.) Post back the results.

Okay...let's assume I'm an idiot. Where would I go to do that?

I clicked the "Settings" button at the top of the WinMX screen and didn't see anything that resembled that.

Thanks again for your help.

c:/program files/winmx/settings.dat

However, many InsightBB customers have been having problems connecting to P2P networks, so that may be your problem...

Thanks for the link to the article. It seems the problem is with Insight/ATT.

I was able to download and get eDonkey to work for me. This may be a solution for others with provider problems.

Thanks again.
