Newest WinMX

Postby Nessmaster » Sun Sep 12, 2004 12:45 pm

I havn't been on the internet for a while (because of a certain IP problem), so I was wondering what the newest build was or version.

No, after 353 useless betas, the useless 3.53 version came out.

You should be shot. At least WinMX is still alive, and it's one of the best resources for music there is.

scanf("%19s", &str);
if (!strcmpi(str, "Hello, world!"))
printf("Hello, programmer.\n");[/code:1]

Don't get me wrong Ooble. I liked WinMX back in the day, and I was looking forward to the new updates, but the useless chat features added to the new 3.53 'official' client is hardly what I would call an update. :idea:

I'm not following... UO just doesn't like it any more... and UO, it's still not useless - I get most of my movies straight off the network.

The 'upgraded client' is useless not the network. Nessmaster wanted to know what's the newest winmx. The newest winmx 'client' is useless, since the only thing different is minor chat upgrades from version 3.31 to 3.53. And yes, I know this is my opinion, but it's an opinion shared by alot of people I know. So don't get all worked up Ooble, I occasionally use Winmx for a single song I hear on the radio or whatever.

Are you following me now, or do I have to repeat it a third time? :wink:

Ah, gotcha. You meant the new chat features - well, the filter's pretty useful when I'm searching for MLP, but apart from that, yeah, they're kinda lame for 2 years of work...

Common sense should tell anyone that Frontcode had all those betas for a very long time and only decided to release them one after another just to quiet the storm, if you know what I mean. Version 3.53 was just another beta that they had from long ago. When the first beta popped up in June, I remember a lot of you fanatical WinMXers thought it was like the second coming of Christ, jumping for joy and laughing at us skeptics. Bet you feel kinda silly now ;)

If 3.55 ever does come out with the upcoming improvements described on their beta page, then I'll eat my proverbial hat, but by then it would be too late for anybody to even care.

I also noticed that this thread received a lot more page views than it otherwise would have had it not been titled "Newest WinMX". Wishful thinking no doubt. Hey, I fell for it too :lol:

WinMx is still a strong network wilth loyal users. And yes, I feel silly after falling for the beta BS.

3.55 will come out someday but it might not come to pass within the next few years. To me it seems most all programs are going nowhere or maybe its just not interesting to me anymore, I dunno.

Does frontcode have something against even numbers?

No, they love even numbers, that's why they released 8 or 10 betas of 3.52. If you mean, even as 4.0, then yes they are very angry at the even numbers lying ahead. They also cut the even 2.6 version from their servers shortly after the demise of the odd 3.0.
