"worldwide" P2P ?

Postby Matt_MX » Wed Sep 21, 2005 8:20 pm

I use WinMX as there are many file sharers in the far east (japan mainly) with many fetish files (I'm "NOT" talking child porn here, DEFINATELY NOT).

Also, the files use the hash codes, so the exact file name does not matter...

Example:

fetish12345#e342bgh22342b
is the same file as:
massivefetishfile#e342bgh22342b

So I found the files that I had not finished downloading fairly easily, even with different names.

So what is everyone using next if winmx doesn't come back?
Isn't eMule, exeem, etc, P2P for the english speaking generation?
I don't know what made Japan and other parts of the world unite through WINMX.
Do other P2P use hash codes to search for a file?

Thanks in advance for any replies, I am still coming to terms with the WINMX news.

Could someone also suggest a popular P2P that has a large far east membership!?

I know from my own experience many of US people use ed2k/Overnet and lots of people connect to ed2k using mods like emule, and lots of other mules and some some shearaza's also. I have seen the Overnet population rise substantially as far as global users but Slyck's stats doesn't reflect it. These programs use sh4 hash and as far as I know it has not been broken. I wonder if someone can incorporate mx into ed2k? Maybe a plugin or a multi app so if it goes dead like many have said and Slyck had reported that it did it would still have a place or a updater.

I've never seen an ED2K server that had characters outside the english/french/german/etc.. alphabet.
So I don't think there is any in japan.

BitTorrent has a presence in Asia.
Deadman walkinf in a Chinese client. I think BitComet and BitSpirit are run from China too.
