Why is iMesh not on the list?

Postby littlebits » Mon Sep 27, 2004 9:14 am

I was just wondering why iMesh is not on the P2P file sharing list on the Slyck home page.
My iMesh program says that there is 813,053users online.

Thanks.

Gotta feel for the admins, been wanting iMesh removed for a while, along with others. Now that they do this great deed, we get moaning.

One beef I do have, supposedly, iMesh is stuck in a sectioned off so to say part of FT, due do it's lack of an upgrade to the latest stack. Now K-Lite users connecting to this same mini-net, report users of about 100,000. Yet when stats were on the front page, iMesh came in at about 1 mil users. Sounds like they're faking network numbers to me.

Also, iMesh isn;t a p2p client now, it's an RIAA infested POC. Slyck doesn't report Napster or iTunes user numbers, so why iMesh?

I believe that Slyck needs to include all popular
file sharing programs on the list. If iMesh is being
counted with FastTrack then the user count is not
correct. The reason for this is that iMesh basically
only connects with other iMesh users.
Only about 7% of the other Fasttrack clients
share files with iMesh. This only happens when the
files can NOT be found on the other FastTrack clients.
The older protocall that iMesh uses make it very
hard for other FastTrack clients to make a
connection with iMesh. The protocall that Kazaa-Lite
uses is also different than the other FastTrack
clients, but does connect to them depending on which
node that you are connected to. But it is still not
the same protocall that iMesh uses.

Thanks.
