Are you suggesting that Slycks statistics may be incorrect? That's just preposterous! Don't you have anything better to do than baselessly accusing the good people of Slyck?

I would like to know the true reason why iMesh is not on the list. According to my iMesh program there is 813,053 users.

It's sad that someone still uses that spyware ridden piece of cr@p. And it's even more sad that they actually like it.
Hell, even Hotline Connect(a pre-napster network) is better.

The version that I use does NOT have spyware. I use
iMesh-Light. http://www.im-l.com/iml/

Thanks.

iMesh stats are not included because we already have the FastTrack stats...When you read the stats off your FastTrack client, that is the sum of all FastTrack clients...

For example, the stats diplayed by Kazaa Lite=Kazaa KMD+Grokster+iMesh+KCEasy+XFactory+all other unauthorized clients.

Since iMesh belongs to FastTrack, having both is confusing and simply doesn't make sense.. It would be like displaying the Gnutella stats like:

BearShare: 60,934
Gnucleus: 39,033
Shareaza: 10,395
Limewire: 28

Or the eDonkey2000 network:

eMule: 2,103,395
eDonkey: 5,493

Its all a matter of simplistics. Jokes aside, I hope this explains it.

iMesh used to only display users on the iMesh network, now they display users on iMesh and the rest of the FastTrack network, so it wouldn't make since like it did before.

I'm still confused about this, because iMesh is suppost to be its own Network altough it does connect to FastTrack. It used to be on the list at one time separate from FastTrack.

Simular to eDonkey to Overnet. They are both different
Networks, but when you download or upload files from
either one of them, they share the same files as each other.

iMesh does not connect to FastTrack the same way as
the other FastTrack clients do.

If iMesh is counted as FastTrack now, then eDonkey and Overnet should be counted together also.

Thanks.

What's iMesh ? :).

I remember once like some years ago I installed it and then spontaniously deleted it ...

I just installed it again, and remembered why I deleted it :).

Long story really short, iMesh has sold out to the industry. Plus the fact that the majority of those in the grip of lawsuits are on fasttrack networks.

A good piece of advice is to steer clear of fasttrack!!

iMesh connects to FastTrack, that is it. No sub network, no mini network, nothing like that (a great P2P misconception)...iMesh is simply a FastTrack client...

iMesh does not connect to FastTrack the same way an the other FastTrack clients do.

Could you please give a technical and detailed explanation to this statement that would make me reconsider my decision? iMesh uses as older FastTrack stack, that is it.

If iMesh is counted as FastTrack now, then eDonkey and Overnet should be counted together also.

eDonkey2000 and Overnet are independent networks. Just because one can share information over two networks means nothing. Shareaza allows me to download off Gnutella and upload to eDonkey2000, should I combine those stats also?

According to the information on the Slyck page
on iMesh "While being its own pool of users, the network of iMesh users also communicates with KaZaA and Grokster clients." It is refered to as a
"Network". On the home page of iMesh, it is also refered to as a "Network". All information that I have found about iMesh refers to as a "Network". Although we all know that it connects to FastTrack, it is filtered by the iMesh servers and does appear to be a separate Network. When using the program you will find that about all of the downloads and uploads are by other iMesh users. In fact the only time that it will download or upload from the other FastTrack clients, is when the file you are looking for can not be found by another iMesh user. Since iMesh can function without these other FastTrack clients, that is a good enough reason to count it separate from the other FastTract clients. All of the other FastTrack
clients depend on each other, but iMesh doesn't. It
can completely function just off the iMesh client users.

Thanks.

by tm,
Imesh is one of the oldest P2P clients/networks, originally operating a central-server network, then later connecting to Fasttrack. The obvious thing is that Kazaa and Grokster (and once the old Morpheus) have never included imesh users in their user population numbers, and vice-versa. This would give one the impression that they were 2 distinct, separate networks, although they did in fact interconnect.

Julian Ashton explained in detail in this thread K-Lite is Dieing.. how the imesh, kazaa and k-lite 'networks' interrelate since the latest fasttrack protocol change. Imesh never did update to the latest fasttrack network stack, so they became a separate network after the protocol change.

Basically iMesh, K-Lite, and old fasttrack clients form one network - and Kazaa, KCeasy, Poisoned, Xfactor form another. Although there is some accidental interconnectivity between networks, which explains why K++ clients might see either 100k users or 2MM users when they connect.

tm,
That is very much so. None of the other FastTrack clients count iMesh as a part of the FastTrack Network.
Since it is very difficult for the other clients to connect to iMesh. I would like to know anyone using any versions of Kazaa, Grokster, or any other FastTrack client, How often do you see uploads or downloads from
iMesh? It is very rare to see this. iMesh is its very own Network by all means. In fact Slyck is the only site that I have found that counts iMesh as FastTrack.
I also found this http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/archive/index.php/t-933
I believe that it is not fare to iMesh and FastTrack to
count these Networks as one. Since almost all of the file sharing on iMesh is just between iMesh client users. Other FastTrack clients very rarely connect and
share files with iMesh.

Thanks.
