Kad's persistent loss...

Postby Ratt » Fri Dec 22, 2006 12:21 pm

Is it just me, or is it increasingly difficult to get Kad to stay connected on its own? I have to bootstrap manually about once a day now to keep things running.

And it's not like my connection is unreliable. I get a new IP every 32 hours, but none of it seems to bother the servers, which never fail to reconnect on their own.

Is this a known issue with Kad, or is it just me, is what I'd love to know.

Be assured, it is just you.

Feel free to visit the emule support forum for help:

That's a start. But it means the Emule board won't be able to help me either, so I'll just let it go.

I have no problem with Kad connecting or staying connected.

Yeah, that's strange. I don't have this problem either :?

It's unfortunate because I wouldn't know how to help. Yeah, I suggest asking in the eMule forums if you don't get your answer here.

waits for Unbiased_Opinion, Andu, LordPake, or a few others to try and solve the problem first?

Does your connection die for a long period of time before you reconnect?

I would think you're just making more connections then your router can handle/remember. my 2 cents.

That was completely uncalled for zim!

Try to show a little less arrogance towards others here please!

If you have Universal Plug and Play enabled in your router try disabling it and manually forwarding your ports. This does solve your problem in some instances. If your connection drop in and out then this may work if it just won't connect it may not.

The modem/router does take his sweet time reconnecting (like a few minutes), yes. That's the fault of my provider and (judging from the experiences of fellow users at same provider) can't be improved.

I don't think it's the number of connections in Emule, because I rarely download/share popular files, nor many files simultaneously.

Universal Plug and Play: not enabled as far as I know but I'll check.

Thanks for the input guys; it's not a huge issue though. The main thing I wanted to know was whether it was in any way widespread.
