Some sites won't load...

Postby jplus503 » Tue Oct 17, 2006 6:40 pm

Since installing emule certain web pages won't load. Like npr.org, I can access msn.com but not hotmail and various others I pay bills on. If I shut my computer down I can goto the sites just fine, but after it has been running for a day or so they stop loading. I use firefox but tried with ie to no avail.

Now this might not be related to emule as before I was using mostly newsgroups and shutting my computer down most nights. I don't want to uninstall emule as I have a bunch of downloads going, but if need be I will to determine what is causing this problem.

Any thoughts?

If you have emule running with the limits up too high you can get lots of server requests timing out.

Try throttling the mule back while you surf and turning it back up when you leave it for the night.

eMule is very well behaved and never caused me any site problems unless it was maxing out the line. In all the years I used it I have never heard anyone else say it does either.

check your hosts. file. see if anything weird got added to it.

but more than likely you're just overloading your connection up or down. or # of simultaneous connections. especially if you're using a router or firewall.

Throttle the up and down speed to 80% of bandwidth max and try the following settings:
Max Connections 200
Max New Connections /5sec 10 (options/extended)
Max Half-Open Connections 9 (options/extended)
No more than 30 downloads or 3000 sources total.

When you have changed the settings re-start eMule.

Disconnect Kad (if connected) if problem persists.

Definitely try disconnecting Kad and running on servers only. Also, check your router and/or modem logs.
