If it's an archive such as rar or zip and you can't open it in either WinRar or WinZip I don't know what to tell you. Maybe download it again?

If you a sure these are video files get GSpot to see what kind of codec you need to play the file.

By the way, what media player are you using to playback?

tried GSPOT

and it says its not a valid file.

there's something VOSTFR in its file name so i guess it's torrent before. should i change it to .torrent?

Would it not just play in WMP as a .avi file?

Not sure then man! If it is an archive and WinRar/WinZip won't extract it you might want to try 7-Zip. Wouldn't hold my breathe though...

Have you tried vlc (was videolan)?

Why the need to rename it in the first place from a video file to an archive? I am a little confused over that one (diesn't take much I know :))

Did you get the links of of a particular site or did you find them through search? If it was off a site it might be an idea to post there and see what is said as they tend to be pretty strict on fakes making an appearance. If you got them through search then that's the chance you take.

VLC plays anything, really anything! No need to find codecs in most cases. I am also confused about renaming your files. If is an avi, than its pretty safe to assume it is an avi. Emule is not prone to fakes, but wmp is very prone to not playing files.

Try here for verified links.

Actually LD I found a format VLC doesn't play.... rm format. It's the only one so far.

So did you or did you not get it via a site? I didn't ask the name of the file just where you got it. I ask again because some files are tagged with a site name though it does not nevessarily mean that site has it. Remeber all the new files that came out tage with SR or SC tags when they had closed down?

Sometimes they are the only format for some things thatI have been asked to find and some are pretty good quality which amazed me.

Okay say the poster goes to an indexing site where the links are posted. Some of them tag the link for example "Aunt Bessie Goes To America.avi" would become "Aunt Bessie Goes To America.avi[bigindexsite]"

If the person found the links on an indexing site then that is where it would be best asking about it as they have stirct rules about posting only verified links.

Now if they found it by a network search then there is the chance of ending up with a fake.
