version 0.12

The Osiris Team is happy to announce a new version of Osiris.
Osiris 0.12 gives many new improvements over every features: security, speed, stability and moreover this is the first Osiris version that introduce a native support of GNU/Linux.

Osiris is a freeware software made to build completely shared portals through p2p ( serverless ) and the new version 0.12 add the gateway Isis feature that gives the read-only access, to all content available on the Osiris p2p network with just a common web browser.

The software doesn't need any other pre-installed component to work, and it is distributed as installable software or portable, it's useful for external hardware.

You can download Osiris from the download-page ( eDonkey & Torrent links available )

To register to a portal it's needed only to click on invite-link, or copy and paste the link into the browser. It's available a dedicated forum to spread invite links, here you will find and publish link to portals made by the community.

To surf portals where you have been registered, by running Osiris, click on the right arrow-button: you will see the main page showing all your subscriptions.

To made new portals is available a Video Tutorial that shows how to made a new one, manage contempt and publish it on the dedicated forum.

We kindly ask to report any problems on the official forum.

A special thanks is given ( as usual :) ) to all the support team for the contribution to the release of this version, thanks!

This is bord from the dead KeyForum, but instead this works for real! :D

You don't need a server :_D
You just need some peers, some people that want to surf it :)

There is a video with some instructions, but many texts are in italian language ( even if some words are really like the english translation ), I hope that you will understand ...
The software anyway is mainly in english language.

There si also an english section on the official forum, you can ask some help on it :)

This looks very cool.

I wonder how it will perform when it gets popular. Is it FOSS?

So they've taken their Isis forum (with some other bits) and distributed that.

Looks like they use SQL Lite to power the local forum. I wonder how they replicate the data between peers.

Here's a robot translation of this: http://osiris.kodeware.net/index.php?op ... Itemid=122

The obvious thing to do with this would be a ShareReactor or PeerWeb

Yes! :)
But there is much more ... you have to use this:
http://isis.kodeware.net/?%2Fportals%2F ... CAD1ED8B0A
( there will be the v0.3 out today )

Upload it on some free hosting ( it needs PHP5 ).

Example, try it here:
1) Upload Isis on the this hosting service: 110mb.com
2) Open Isis options ( on the address of you website, example: http://test.110mb.com/isis ) and set this one:
compatibility.use_set_time_limit to "No"
2) Register this board on Osiris ( it's an italian board ): osiris://|portal|010000017D017268CEBCDB ... cription=|
3) wait until it ( the board ) is synchronized on Osiris
4) Open the the settings of the registered board on Osiris ( from the homepage of Osiris: 127.0.0.1 ... )
5) Go to the Isis option and set your website address, example:
http://test.110mb.com/isis
6) Now you can see the board from the website! :D ( you can just read, you can't write )

Anyway, we are going to make a complete documentation about Isis in english language ( and videos ) on the next days :)

This is an already working example:
http://nowheremind.110mb.com/isis
There isn't any database on this website! It's taking all the data from registered node on the network :D

Very cool. I've been thinking about the P2P side of this for a while so I am impressed someone has taken it on - it's not simple :). :headbang:

hostfat: while it's not a hard and fast rule, we'd prefer if people did not link directly to zip or exe files. if you could, i'd appreciate it if you could replace links like that with links to a download page instead - thanks :)
