There are a lot of members who visit regularly but don't post or even register. :? :shock:
I'm sure that is standard for other forums scince I register but never post on others.

I am always amazed at that. We often have 250 or 350+ people roaming the forums, but they never post or register. Ever notice the amount of people who say "Ive been coming here for years but this is the first time posting..." Very interesting...

In any case, these stats may encourage the 0-5 post range individuals being purged...then we'd only have about 1000 registered users!

I guess, even forums have leeches.
And NP IlL-eAgLe. 8)

PS. Speaking of leeching; If Slyck Tom purges any names; Does this mean they're up for grabs?

edit. I've notice there is never below 100 visitors on this site. Usually (almost always), at least 250+. Thats why I found this stats so startling.

Shareaza has 32130 members
rough approximation. (I jumped only to pages divisable by 10 at ten people per page.)

15940 members have "0" posts thats about 49.61%

5600 members have "1" posts thats about 17.43%

2200 members have "2-5" posts thats about 6.85%

500 members have "6-10" posts thats about 1.56%

Just to give an idea.

There's nothing wrong with lurking.

edit: in fact, it surprises me that so many people register, and don't even post afterwards. You don't need an account to read the forums...

Members who don't register!? :? .... wouldn't that make them guests!? :P lol

I think there's likely 2 main reasons we get so many 'zero posts' members. One being that some probably think they need to register in order to view all of the forums, and the other being people who register, then forget their username and/or password when they come back, so they register again.

Still, even at quiet times we have around 200 guests viewing the forums. Just a shame they don't choose to join in.

You also get people who come here and find what they need for answers and continue on their merry way...only coming back to look again if they run into another problem...
If they can find the answers by themselves, good for them...

True this is a news forum, people come for information but not really to chat. Take Shareaza for example, they almost half their users don't post. Keep in mind that it is a technical suport forum, the only reason to go there is for help, knowledge, and (historically) flame wars, yet still; about half have no posts. So this is just common for forums I guess. Though I should do more research befor stating such generalizations.

inactive accounts get deleted after a while on there. Only the members that registered and haven't posted anything, obviously.

In most forums, half the users have never posted. Just take CFx, for example. Less than 15 users, and over half have never posted. It ranges from the tiny, to the huge, such as Slyck here.

I'm just happy I'm in the top 0.2%.
[code:1]char str[20];
scanf("%19s", &str);
if (!strcmpi(str, "Hello, world!"))
printf("Hello, programmer.\n");[/code:1]

4349 members have not posted? I ran this statistic about a week ago (and if anyone saw my signature they would have noticed), and I was around 150 lower. Does this mean that we have had 150 members within the last week that have joined and not posted, or does it mean that one of us sucks at math?
