Repealing the No Politics Rule

Postby SlyckRay » Sat Aug 04, 2007 11:08 pm

As of today, we are relaxing the no politics rule. We are no longer going to prohibit topics from being discussed that are political in nature. We are doing this because there is too much that happens in this scene that is political and to shut down discussion on these issues is shutting down discussion in a key area of file-sharing.

We have been wanting to move in this direction for a long time and the new forum software makes it easier for us to deal with abusive posts through the post alerting and user warning systems. Which brings me to what we will not allow:

the change to our rule will be as follows:
any political discussion needs to adhere to all other rules, in particular rule 7 (no flaming or general lamership)

please do not take this as your opportunity to flame politicians or parties or anything.. that is not the purpose of relaxing this rule. anything that is written that is off-topic will be removed without the need for explanation.

We really hope that this helps open up new avenues of discussion that have been wanted here in the Slyck community.

You're just trying to hide your Canadian background by talking about Yankee politics, but I can see right through that because your accent's showing there Nutty. ;)

I think there's a joke in here somewhere about this move meaning that there'll be no more beating about the Bush .... but I can't quite put my finger on it ;)

I've been meaning to make mention of that. I didn't know MrFredPFL was into things like that so much. Nice to know you're supporting one of our own regardless. ;)
