Hello Ray...

Would it be possible (whether in the near future, or for Slyck 2.0...no matter) to have a link added to each main page similar to? :

View posts since last visit

I find I use this link a lot (I have no idea if anyone else does)...especially if I have been out of town, or busy actually working for days at a time, and it would be handy to be able to get at it without having to circle through the forum page and back out again everytime...

Just a thought...

seconded...

at least put one into the forum sidebar on the main page for logged in users.

right between the p2p stats box and the forum box. view new posts. good spot for it.

another spot to add it might be the top of every forum page here. view previous topic, view new posts, view next topic.

i hit the main forum page a great deal just for the new posts button.

maybe i should just put it into firefox...

I was thinking even on the left side border between the "Search Slyck" and "Slyck Guides" so it is available at a glance....

Something similar to the "Make a Donation" button, maybe...??

Good idea!

I use that link all the time too. Wouldn't it be even better if phpBB had a 'View unread posts' instead though. It's so damn annoying how it 'forgets' new posts if you have to log out before you get chance to read them all!

They use that function on a couple of boards I frequent. It's really good. On those there's no click button, the folder of the topic turns to a different colour (blue from brown) so that you know there's been new posts since you were last there.

I simply brought it up, as I end up looping through to the end of five or six pages of postings whenever I am away for three or four days, and then as I read through them and respond I end up heading back to the forum main page to click on the view posts since last visit link as it shows the most recent activity as well as leaving everything in a nice order I can follow...

So a constant button that had the same function would be beneficial...or that was my thinking.

i'm not sure what the issue is here. i do this all the time. in fact, i rarely view the main forum index page. my bookmark is the view posts since last visit page. i go there, it presents the list. i read one, click back, look at the list again, read another, lather, rinse, repeat. if a thread i have read required me to view more than one page, no problem - i just go back to the first (oldest) occurence of slyck in my browser's back list - and there's the list of new posts again.

No issue...just a suggestion for future development...

Sort of a minor "make work project" for Ray...seeing as he has all kinds of time to himself the last couple of days....

Double post good too.

Can we get a "Mark all forums as read" button somewhere on that page?

I open it up and sometimes it's all threads I'm not interested in. If I could mark them as read from there, it'd save me a trip to the index board.

Is it also possible to kinda opt-out one thread so you can ignore it for eternity and never pop up as 'new'

Me too. It's just that it has moved on it's regular page. I posted a pic of it in "Slyck 2.0" for Ice. It's right under the "forum rules" link at the top of the page, instead of over to the right.

Neat Ray! :)

It needs to go down one line and a little to the left though.

I've been busy as hell all summer and as such I am just now checking things out and getting back in the groove...

That is exactly what I was thinking...Thanks Ray.

Nice to see ya Fez 8)
I know what you're thinking, punk. You're thinking, 'Did he use six superfluous adjectives or only five?' To tell the truth I forgot myself in all this excitement - but as I deal in English, the most powerful language in the world with subtle nuances that may blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' Well do you punk?

Is the "View Posts Since Last Visit" function working?

I just get a blank page. Maybe there is a limit.

It's my first login since my joined date.

That's OK, it's not important. I was just curious to see how many posts there had been.
