Dictionary Entry - Centralized Network
Centralized Network
A centralized network is one in which each user of the network must connect to a central server that acts as an indexing agent in some capacity. This was the model that Napster has made famous. Centralized networks, while being vulnerable to RIAA attacks, have still managed to survive and thrive. The eDonkey2000 network is one example of a current centralized network.
